March Madness 2018
The Latest at PHFTC
Happy March Everyone!I hope everyone's winter has been going well and this will be the last month of snow for most of us! My family and I had the privilege of going to Thailand for two weeks and we so enjoyed the warmth and sun there! But now we have returned just in time for our annual fundraising time! Before I explain a little more about this month's fundraising, here is a brief update of what we have been doing at Project Hope for the Children the past several months.
This past year saw us grow, as the Lord gently led us to help in new ways in Romania! We were able to hire one part time maternal assistant in our Sibiu Hospital~ the only worker for an average of 30 social babies! It is going well and we are hoping to add another worker this year,if we can find someone qualified! PHFTC also was able to increase the salary of our longtime employee, Alina, who supervises our projects so beautifully!
We were able to assist two different foundations with their openings of an after school care facility and preschool respectively. We donated supplies of food and items to help them get up and going and we love seeing the faces of these children as they are introduced to new ideas such as: hygiene, proper food, God's Word, educational instruction, etc.
We also continued to help our two other regular foundations with diapers, wipes, food and cleaning supplies for their orphan homes and Gypsy projects! As usual,we aided other foundations in the hospital in Oradea when they lack the money to buy supplies for their social babies, and,of course, our primary goal of funding our wards in the Oradea and Sibiu Hospitals with every baby essential you can think of!
With all that going on, it is time I return and purchase the supplies, reconnect with the hospital staff and foundation directors and check on our employees, as well as cuddle as many babies as the hospital allows! The dates are March 25- June 8th!
Sooo... that brings us to our annual March Madness Fundraiser! If you are not familiar with it, let me explain how it started. March was the month I moved to Romania so many years ago and so I enjoy dedicating a month of online fundraising to help meet our budget before my Spring trip! This year it is the 15 year anniversary of working in orphan care in Romania. This is such a huge milestone for myself and PHFTC and I cannot tell you how incredibly blessed I have been because of this ministry!
This month, I will be sending out many more mailings and posting pictures and information on our Facebook and Instagram pages. Please join in, contribute, donate and share with your friends about this foundation and what we do! Because it is our 15th year, would you consider giving in amounts divisible by 15, such as: $15 ,$30, $45, $115 etc.
You can do so immediately by clicking on our PayPal link here http://paypal.me/phftc .
You can also go to our website and donate via the link and make reacurring donations https://www.projecthopeforthechildren.org/support.html. (And yes, it works this year:)
Also, if you haven't seen us on FB or Instagram come check us out. I post as many pictures as possible on these sites.

Giving Tuesday
For Giving Tuesday, please consider making a donation to PHFTC to aid us in supplying much needed baby supplies to hospitals, providing salaries to our staff in the hospitals and supporting the foundations we partner with in their grass roots efforts to fight poverty and child abandonment. Even a $10 or 40 RON donation can make a donation in a child's life! I've seem it happen! http://www.projecthopeforthechildren.org/support.html

Autumn Update
Happy Autumn to you All!
This summer was a busy one for my family as we had my Romanian daughter stay with us for three months! There were many challenges and many adventures and some tears as I put her on the plane earlier this month so she could return to Romania and finish school, but what a blessing to have here here!
Meanwhile, we have had some exciting changes in Romania! We were granted permission from our Sibiu hospital to put the very first Maternal Assistant in the wards to love, snuggle and care for the social babies there! We are thrilled and have hired, Dora, our Nurse Liaison's daughter to go in part time. Alina went to Sibiu to train Dora earlier this month. She has now been working several weeks and is doing a fantastic job!

We also have received verbal permission to bring over a small team of women to rock the babies sometime. This has long been a dream of mine (and some of you) to take a team over. We are still awaiting the final decision in writing so please pray that it goes through.
Alina has taken on some more responsibilities for our Ministry and with the poor economy in Romania, our Board has decided to raise her salary. Alina is a diligent, honest and caring Maternal Assistant and Supervisor and without her PHFTC would not be reaching as many babies and foundations as we do! Currently, she receives money for her Social Security and Health Insurance and $400 a month. We raised her salary by $100 more and are looking for additional Sponsors to increase her salary by yet another $100. This would give her a total of $600 a month plus her SS and insurance. If anyone is interested in becoming a monthly sponsor for Alina's salary, please contact me directly.
November is almost here and we are expanding our Christmas Sock Fundraisers, where individuals and families fill a baby sock with loose change, bills or checks. If your church or organization, wishes to participate please let me know!
We also have a new shipment of Joy Beadz just in time for Hostess and Christmas gifts! New colors and some of the older smaller styles,as well. I'll be posting pictures on Facebook and Instagram so let me know if you are interested in purchasing any.
Lastly, I am so relieved to announce that PayPal has fixed their Recurring Donate Button on our website so once again you can set up your automatic payments! I apologize for this inconvenience while PayPal worked through their issues. Thank you all for your support whatever way you choose to help!
Many Blessings to you all!

RO Trip update
Dear Friends,
I returned from my trip to Romania five days ago and wanted to fill you in before any more time went by! This trip went very well in comparison to other years and I am so blessed by it! I was able to visit the hospitals in Sibiu and Oradea, purchase supplies for three grassroots foundations, visit with many friends in Ministry there and see my two special children! It was a busy two weeks with rainy, cold weather, a small bout of ill health and shocking decree from the Oradea Hospital, but through it all I could see the Lord moving and accomplishing His will.
In my church presentations this year I spoke on the passage the Lord had given me from Ps. 37:3-7 (NLT) which says:
3 Trust in the Lord and do good.
Then you will live safely in the land and prosper.
4 Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you your heart’s desires.
5 Commit everything you do to the Lord.
Trust him, and he will help you.
6 He will make your innocence radiate like the dawn,
and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun.
7 Be still in the presence of the Lord,
and wait patiently for him to act.
Don’t worry about evil people who prosper
or fret about their wicked schemes.
I spoke about how whether in this Ministry or in our personal lives, if we follow the outline in these verses, we would be blessed. Little did I know how they would comfort me during my visit. The second day of being in the hospital in Oradea, a doctor entered the rooms where we work and demanded to know why I was holding a baby in my arms. I explained who I was and that I had papers saying I could be there, The doctor became irate and ordered me to put the baby back in bed. I complied while Alina explained that I had a signed note from the Director saying that I could work in the hospital during my stay. The doctor stated that she didn't care; that no foreigner could hold the babies. She did calm down however, and told me that I might stay but could not touch the babies at all. I was devastated as I had never had any issues before even when other foundations had. I went home and prayed earnestly and read these Scriptures again and was given peace.
6 He will make your innocence radiate like the dawn,
and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun.
I then heard stories of other directors that had been ordered to leave the hospital and not allowed to hold the babies either. The following day, I was told that if I wanted I could visit for 10 minutes at a time to confer with our employee and if I wanted to work with the children next time, I could send in a doctor's note of my vaccinations, a list of classes and credentials I have in child care and if approved I would have to give a stool sample to prove I am not carrying any diseases. While this means more hoops to jump through, I was pleased that they organized some sort of policy and are giving me a chance, when others were not offered one. Please pray that my paperwork will be approved and I can once again do what I so love!
On a good note, our hospital in Sibiu has approved us to place a worker in the wards to hold, play and care for the babies and preschoolers there! I am overjoyed at this news. We now need to find a special person who will properly care for the children and properly represent PHFTC in that hospital.
Our other exciting news is that we are one step closer to being allowed to bring a team of women into that hospital to hold babies! We are awaiting the official endorsement, so please pray that we will be allowed to do this if it is God's will!
I have more news on what we were able to do for the foundations that we support near Oradea, but that will have to wait for another time! Thank you for your continued support and interest! And remember if you want to partner with us on a monthly basis, it is not to late to do it.
Many Blessings,
Mona

March Madness Update
Hello Friends,
It is quiet in the house this afternoon, a rarity it seems and I am tempted to take a nap (also a rarity), but I didn't want to let too much time go by before I updated you on the March Madness Fundraiser results. We had several people join us as monthly donors and we added $240 extra a month, bringing our monthly donations to $626.33. Having a consistent amount of money is fantastic for any ministry and we so appreciate all you do!!
I am leaving May 3rd for Romania and will be there for two weeks. This year, I am traveling alone and have a full schedule planned already! I will be working at the two hospitals, of course, holding the babies and doing whatever our employee, Alina lets me do. LOL! I will be purchasing supplies for the hospitals as well as, connecting with the multiple directors of the foundations we help; finding out what their needs are and purchasing them. A stop to see the women who make the JoyBeadz is also a must!
I am also hoping to go into one of the city's orphanages with a friend this year to see how the children are living there and to talk with the kids. The new after school daycare project we have been helping with should be close to opening and I have purchased several educational wall clings to decorate the building with. We are very excited about this new project starting and the impact it could have on these tender Roma children being raised in abject poverty.
We still need donations so if you are interested in giving a one time gift of any amount, it will be put to good use! Above all else, please keep us in your prayers specifically for traveling safety and strength for myself and protection and peace at home for my family.
Many Blessings,
Mona

** and if you want to do smaller amounts that is welcome too
You can put us on your online bill pay, make a bank to bank transfer or set up a recurring payment on PayPal if you don't want to remember writing a check each month:) And if you can't make a monthly contribution, we will be accepting donations through the month of April for my trip in May!
I am putting together my trip this week and in my next email will tell you all the things that are planned for the 2017 Spring Trip! As always, thank you for your interest, support and prayers!
